Grand Prix Montreal
After one year's hiatus excitement is coming back to
Montreal with the confirmation that 2010 Canadian Grand Prix
will go ahead in June. Previously known as the Molson Indy
Montreal, this 60 year old F1 racing event's future in
Montreal was in doubt due to the conflict between Montreal
NASCAR race organizer and the Formula one president.
The race got a green flag after the two reached an
agreement. The stage has been set for this exciting car
racing at the Gille Villeneuve Circuit which is named after
the first Canadian Grand Prix winner. This track has been
used for F1 race since 1978. The Montreal Grand Prix, which
is the only Formula 1 race event in North America, has
always proved to be very successful sporting event, drawing
a huge crowd every time it has taken place. Typically a
crowd of 300,000 has attended the grand prix over a period
of three days, since 2001. The attendance for the final
Sunday at the track is attended by spectators in excess of
120,000. Not bad for a two hour event, eh!
Some of the most famous drivers of this sport will be coming
to Montreal to take part in this gp racing event. The list
includes heavyweights such as:
Micheal Schumachar who has won the title nine times and has
returned for the season of 2010 after a three years absence.
Felipe Massa who is the winner of season opener held on
March 14 in Bahrain.
Jason Button
Lewis Hamilton
Fernando Alonso
