NFL Tickets - About
National Football League or NFL is the most spectator attended sport in the American domestic market. This very popular sport is
also the most watched sport on television with big companies willing to pay millions for a tiny commercial spot especially during
the championship games. National Football League was founded in 1920 and had originally eleven teams with the first professional
championship game taking place in 1933. The League has now expanded to 32 clubs which are equally divided into American Football
Conference and National Football Conference. Each of these conferences has four further divisions having four teams each in each
division. Not surprisingly most of the NFL team are located on the Eastern coast of the country where majority of the population
is living. Most of the major cities have their own football team with the exception of Los Angles and most of these teams also
have their loyal fans giving support and cheering their favorite team.
The regular NFL season spans first week of September to first week of January, during which each team plays sixteen games and has
one "bye" week. The season culminates with six top teams from each conference headed to the playoffs. The NFL playoffs are held
in the first week of January, and are a twelve team single elimination tournament which is followed by the championship game, the
Super Bowl, which happens to be the biggest sporting event of the year in all of America. After the game Pete Rozelle Trophy is
handed out to the MVP of Super Bowl. A panel of media experts and the fan- voting determine the recipient of this award. To date
Joe Montana is the only player to have won this coveted prize for three times. Several other trophies are also handed out
throughout the season to outstanding coaches, rookies or other exceptional players. Each year the Super Bowl game is held in a
predetermined city. All Star Game of NFL is known as Pro Bowl and is held every year in Hawaii with the exception of 2010/2011
season where it was held in Sun Life Stadium. Pro Bowl used to be held after the Super Bowl but since the 2010 it is being held
before the Super Bowl.
With the end of July the football training camps finish and the exhibition season starts. Before the beginning of the regular
season each of the 32 NFL teams play four exhibition games, from first week of August to first week of September, after which the
regular seventeen week NFL season starts. Without any doubt, football is the most popular sport in America, watched by thousands
in arenas and by millions on the television. CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN, and NFL Network all give extensive coverage to the football
games.
