Regatta Boat Racing
These boating races can be either a series of rowing events,
sailing races or yacht racing.
Generally Regattas are amateur competitions yet they are
very organized, having formal rules and procedures imposed
by either associations, clubs or institutions.
Generally Regattas are very exciting and fun events
combining the elements of racing sport and social events.
Some of the prominent Rowing Regattas are:
Royal St. John's Regatta, which is one of the oldest rowing
Regatta races in North America. It is held on first
Wednesday of August in St. John New Foundland Canada.
Henley Royal Regatta lasts for five days and takes place in
Henley-on-Thames, England, for a stretch of more than a
mile. This rowing event is attended by a huge crowd who
comes here to watch the rowing races and well as to attend
the social events being held.
